How to Contribute

Annual Gifts

Annual gifts help Mercy Housing and Shelter meet our operating budget on an annual basis. Your gift goes to work immediately to make a difference. We appreciate annual gifts in any amount.

Checks and cash can be dropped off at or mailed to our Hartford office. Please make check payable to Mercy Housing and Shelter Corporation and mail to:

Honor & Memorial Gifts

Honor and memorial gifts are a thoughtful and caring way to honor or remember your loved one and at the same time, help others. Recipients or their family members will be notified of your gift.

Matching Gifts

Many corporations will match an employee’s gift to charitable organizations. In addition, some provide donations to the organization where their employees volunteer. Please contact your human resource department for more information and forms.

Monthly Donations

A monthly donation makes it easy to support Mercy Housing and Shelter throughout the year and conveniently spread more impactful gift over time. You can set up an easy, recurring donation.

Host an Event in Your Home

Gather a group of family and friends at your house to fundraise for Mercy Housing and Shelter Corporation.  Contact Christina Lessard, Director of Development at clessard@mercyhousingct.org or at 860-808-2044 for more information. 

In-Kind Donations

There are different ways to help Mercy Housing and Shelter provide for the many needs of our clients. A drive can be held in-person or by setting up an Amazon wish-list for specific items such as toiletries, non-perishable food, new t-shirts and socks, etc. This is a great idea for school, neighborhood or work groups. Or, you can purchase items directly from Mercy Housing’s wish-list on Amazon here.

All items are then directly shipped to Mercy Housing and Shelter. Please be sure to include your name so that we can acknowledge you!

Gifts of Stocks, Securities, Real Estate, Bequests, and Other Gifts

Gifts of stock or securities, or bequests or other planned gifts are important to Mercy Housing and Shelter because they are usually large gifts that are oftentimes not restricted and enable us to do our work and fulfill our mission.   If you are considering this type of gift to Mercy Housing and Shelter, please consult with your estate planning attorney and then feel free to discuss your intent with us. Mobile Donations

United Way Designation

Designate your United Way gift to Mercy. Please reference Mercy Housing and Shelter Corporation and code 5329 when filling out your United Way pledge form.

Securities

Mercy accepts gifts of appreciated securities as a charitable donation. Consult with your attorney or financial advisor for more details on the benefits of this type of donation.

Organize a Fund Drive

Work with your friends, neighbors, co-workers or faith and community groups by conducting a fund drive or collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries.

Donate a Vehicle

Your donations make it possible for Mercy to continue to provide basic needs and services to individuals and families to make the transition from homelessness to having a permanent home.
